2011 Question regarding park assist & valet key on smart fob.

Hello,

I searched without success. My 2011 Avalon Limited came w/ a valet key on the smart fob. How may I use that key? My car came with an on/off button instead of a key whole. I was reading the following thread

2011 Avalon Limited Valet wiring help needed

but I couldn't understand a thing. The thread seems to be for mechanically skilled members. Sorry for my unawareness in advance.

My next question is regarding park assist. I thought the 2011 Avalon limited Nav didn't have park assist, only a Nav screen back up camera. Well, here is my question. While When I am about to approach a wall (Forward), just before touching the wall. The Avalon beeps continuously. What is that beep coming from? Is there a park assist that I don't know about? Sorry again in advance for my unawareness.
Best regards.

For the park assist: I am positive that all Limited models have park assist. Is there a beeping sound when your reversing? It should be a small cylinder button next to the trunk release button and power rear window shade button if your has it. TO be honest, Mine is way to over active so i just press the button as soon as i go into reverse

Hi, I posted the linked post about the valet. In a nutshell, unless you have a pushbutton inside the glove box (towards the drivers side) then you are like our 2011 Avalon Limited with the smart key and have no valet function.

The 2010 model had a button inside the glove box that you would push to deactivate the trunk. You would then lock the glove box with the key. They key portion would be removed from the smart fob and you would hand the valet the fob and keep the key. The trunk would not be active and the valet would only be able to open the door and drive the car, not to open the trunk.

Toyota rep and a paid answer site has confirmed that the button was removed from the 2011 model. Information received is that some are paying dealers to install the glove box button and wire it in to restore the valet function on the 2011 Limited model. I am presently researching the process and will post a step by step (unless someone beats me to it) on how to complete the conversion. Awaiting the cars return as family member has it out of state currently.

Cheers

The only buttons that I have are the ones for the gas door, trunk opening and rear sunshade. That's it. I don't hear anything when backing up, I just look at the rear camera on the Nav system. I do have a long beep when approaching a vehicle with my front bumper but the beep stops when I put the transmission in P. That's what I'm hoping to find out from you guys. Thanks anyway for taking your time.

This is a quite intresting thread. I must be missing something. I own a 2011 Avy Limited with Nav. It has no button on the dash near the power window shade switch, just a blank plug. It has no tone when approaching a wall in Drive. It does have a rear camera for backing the display is on the nav unit, but that's it. Since there is NO mention of a tone in the manual warning system or parking system, I must believe unless it was added aftermarket it doesn't come with one.

Have you looked to see if park assist sensors are mounted in the front bumper cover? If not sure what to look for, go to Google images and enter "park assist sensor".

I do know what to look for and there are no sensors. I believe if 2011 Avalons have them they are aftermarket.

I don't see any sensor either. I guess the new Avalon do not offer park assist. Quite weird for the position on this vehicle on the market. That's it. I had it. I'm going to the Lexus dealer right now. I'll be getting an LS460. Can you guys send me the money? I can't afford the LS460. Lol
