Transmission Failure?

With all of the threads about transmissions and funky behavior, I'm wondering if anybody has had one of these units outright fail?

My 2006 is a CPO car and under warranty for about 10,000 more miles. The trans occasionally does odd things, but is usually fairly well behaved. Just curious if some of you with higher mileage have run into problems as they've aged.

Thanks in advance!

Tom

Nope the odd thing where it takes about two seconds to shift into first if you don’t stop completely went away on my car about a month after I bought it... it only shows small signs when its -20 below zero outside.

There is a "flash" that the dealer needs to install in the ECU to transmission control because of that odd shifting problem. I read about it and verified the information with my local Toyota dealer. Also, consider an ATF and filter change (so places perform a flush) but don't change the filter. Replace your filter, Beck Arnley is exact OE along with gasket or just go Toyota then either drain the fluids that is in the pan and have magnets in the pan cleaned. You can either just replace the fluid from pan (approximately 4-5 quarts) or conduct the entire flush. Out here in AZ, it's recommended about every 55-60K because of our summers. I'm a bit worried too because while driving in slow speeds around parking lots you need to watch your acceleration, a sudden push of the accelerator lunges the vehicle from 1st gear into 2nd....dealer told me there's not much they can do except check for codes and reflash it Best of luck...
