wow great find and 280 hp/260 torque avalon! sweet. that's bordering on infiniti g35 coupe territory!! (g35 coupe: 280hp/270 torque).
I skimmed it, so i might have missed it, but will it be AWD, FWD, or RWD? I hope it's RWD or AWD. all that power in FWD would be bad....look at the acura TL and nissan Maxima ..can we say torque steer
Also a push button start engine! sweet...more and more like Lexus
a lot of toyota's have dynamic laser cruise control
the sienna, and the larger SUV's have it, as does the prius. i"m not sure on which others do, but i'm sure some others do, maybe the 05 camry.
i thought the active motor mount is pretty cool
The 05' Camrys don't have the Dynamic Laser Cruise Control as an option. The Sienna, Landcruiser, Sequoia, Prius, and the new avalon will have it. I've noticed it especially on the Siennas. The XLE Limited / Limited AWD is visible. You'll notice a another gap in the bumper next to the right foglights.
The new Avalon looks awesome. Too bad I wouldn't like to drive that car yet. To big and it's aimed for the older people. But I wouldn't mind driving it for daily basis. Gotta love the interior.

Damn, that's not bad. It looks like bye-bye for the MZ? It's all GR now, the Avalon having the 2GR-FE (4Runner having the 1GR-FE, and the next-gen Lexus GS300/IS300 getting a 3 or 4GR-FSE, i can never remember).
Maybe they'll keep the MZ for the Camry and Solara. But I kinda figured the new 3.5L would be a GR series engine. The new GS300 and IS300 are gonna use the 3GR-FE so it's only a matter of time before they pop in the 2GR-FE and tack a GT at the end of their respective model names. Now if only we can convince Toyota to keep the IS w/ an available manual tranny in limited availability. A 6spd for both the IS and GS GT models would be nice.
As for the Avalon, wow. That's some MAJOR competition for Nissan, Chrysler, and others. Okay, I know I'm not trippin, but a 4-valve engine? How's that work? Is it 4 valves per cylinder or 4 for both intake and exhaust (8 per cylinder)? Hmm, guess it's a typo and it's really supposed to say 24 valve, in that case, the former would apply? Finally, a dual VVT-i engine for the U.S.
It is FWD from the transmission illustrations. They might add AWD when the new GS300 is launched, borrow the tranny, components and such, and tweak the gears and drive ratio to match the engine in the future. It's a good probability, but only if people show interest in an AWD version. Torque steer is becoming less of a problem as manufacturers develop ways to lessen/reduce or eliminate it. Handling w/ FWD is a different story altogether.

The Sequoia, Land Cruiser and Prius don't have the Laser Cruise. Sienna is the only current model with it. I'm positive.
Lexus has it on the RX330 and LS430 and I think that's it.
