Just wondering if anyone knows if there are any performance parts available yet for the 2005+ Avalons? Perhaps it's too early yet I realize that.......was just courious or if anyone knows what will become available in the future? I hope TRD offers some stuff like a STB Any feedback is appreciated.

add the driver, non factory items and any cargo and your getting up there.
Your right, but the engine will be getting more air into the engine with either a TRD/K&N air filter. Also TRD might come out with a preformance muffler too.
This car would be a ton of fun with some sort of F/I application. The car hauls butt as it is. I know one thing I would like though is some sway bars for it. I love the ride of the car, but it would be nice if it were a bit tighter in the corners.

I think the sales brochure says the Touring model has a tighter ride than the Limited. It may just be a difference in sway bar application. Maybe you can drive a Touring at the dealer to see if it really makes a difference.
I test drove the Limited and Touring Edition of the Avalon. The Touring comes with sport tuned shocks, springs and sway bars. It does ride a little rougher than the Limited, but the Touring sure corners and handles better.
Iam looking at getting the Touring Edition next year. I did notice that the 2006 Avalon will have traction and stability control available on all models. However, the horsepower and torque has been reduced by 12 from the 2005 model Avalon, which I don't like. I wonder why Toyota reduce the specificatations on the 2006 model.
Toyota didn't change the numbers, per se. The method of computing HP was changed by the SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers?). It now requires that all the normal loads be applied to the engine when testing -- so all the belts, etc are all hooked up. Almost every car will see a decrease in published HP. Oddly, the Corvette went up, but you have to suspect they did something to tweak output just to keep them above 400 or 500 or whatever they were at.

How rough was rough for the Touring? I know the review in Car and Driver or MotorTrend or one of them said that it was a little too rough. They said something along the lines of "Toyota might have overdone it a little with the 'sport' part of the touring."

To me it was a little rougher than the rest of the models. However, I would recommend that you drive the Touring edition. When you get up on highway it rides pretty smooth. I personally like the tighter suspension for corner and handling.

yea that's probably the #1 or #2 complaint I have about my current avalon... waayy too much body roll.
The 2006 Lexus IS 350 is going to have the same engine thats in the Avalon now, but with more tunning to get it to 305HP. So maybe you there will be some preformance parts that could be used on the Avalon and IS 350. However, the IS35o is RWD.
