Avalon Prices
I purchased an 05 Limited here in Charlotte, from a volume dealership, owned by Sonic Automotive. (Bruton Smith, of stock car racing fame, owns Sonic Automotive, and is in the top five in size in the USA) I went forward with a worksheet, showing sticker price, dealer invoice and what I would pay, beginning with the base price, and all of the options that I wanted on the car. (use Kelly blue book to get info.) In my case, that was one option, mats. In the column showing what I would pay, I showed $300. over the dealer invoice. After some negotiation, I got the car for $300. over cost. (dealer invoice) Volume dealerships want to sell product. They will make a profit, from holdback (2-3%) of retail price, and other marketing incentives with the Toyota Corporation. Their big money makers are in the service and used car profit centers, not new car sales. So, I would recommend going to a volume dealership, one who is willing to deal. It also helps if you've purchased other cars at the same dealership, and have had all your maintenance service done there. This is another big lever to have in your negotiation bag.
