NAV - No UPS, No Kinko's, No Fedex?

On the new Avalon 05 NAV system.

Press the Destination button.

Select POI.

Enter in "FEDEX", or "UPS", or "Kinko"

Notice something shocking?

NO LISTINGS! NONE!

At least not on my 2005 Avalon Limited with the SouthWest USA selected.

I hope you weren't planning on actually using that Navigation system for something useful.... were you?

I'm pretty shocked!

A little harsh, I do think... I personally do not use it as a mobile yellow pages. I tend to use it to bypass traffic jams or to reach destinations that I already have an address for.

So, yes, I do plan on using it for something useful...

I had Hertz rental with Never Lost system and we were trying to locate a hotel by name in Disney area and just by entering partial names, we got a ton of possible names that you can select That's what you expect. Don't understand no response at all!

Not knowing what database they use, some do not have specific businesses listed.

I just use my on-star in my yukoon to find places like that!!

Is there a menu to have it show different types of locations. My GPS has that....

If you try looking up Kinko's you will find Kinko's childcare center?! But no Kinko's centers.

Isn't a very common thing when on the road is to ship something, perhaps access the internet, you know, "your office away from home" kind of stuff that places like Kinko's exist for?! Or is the NAV system only for leisure travel?

I'm not in the car and I'm not going out to check this (!), but any chance they are listed under FedExKinko's, since they are part of FedEx now?

No.

The POI search works on partial string matches.

Try Fedex, it won't let you get the "x"

Try Kinkos

Try UPS

No matches on any of them.

I wonder if they list post offices, I'll try next time I'm in the car.

Hmmmm...

I have only owned my 2005 Avalon Limited for about two months, and so I might be wrong, or have it confused with another car's navigation system I was looking at, but I am thinking that you can navigate by telephone number as well as address (which is the only way I've used mine). If this is an alternative, it might help.

Sorry for your frustration. I still think the navigation system is pretty darn wonderful, especially the fact that it even reroutes me if I 'defy' it's instructions!
