Question 2005 Avalon Limited

Looking for advice on the best way to preserve & protect the finish on my new Avalon Limited. I have never owned a white car before, Igot the blizzard white finish, and am concerned about keeping it looking good. Any advice?

polish/wax her 2-3 times a year. and clean her nicely at every wash time. White cars look really sweet when clean...keeping them clean is another story tho' (i now wish i would have bought something other than my white solara)

I think that whit cars look less dirty than non-white cars with the same quanitity of dirt. I had one white car and felt it looked better dirty than my others ("champagne", green, charcoal grey). I just got a silver Avalon, and so far, that hides dirt at least as well as white. I'm happy with that.

To the original poster, the maintenance schedule jhbhatia mentions is a good one.

why do you think many goverment and private service vehicles are white? they don't "look" as dirty as other colors...but i guess what you have to look out for is the fading---that detours me from getting white...so like Alangc ask...can the fading be avoidable?

A product I would recommend IF you have hard water in your area is the new Mr. Clean car wash system. In my area we have very hard water. I bought a water treatment system for the entire house which includes the outside faucets but my neighbors have a hard time with water deposits on the cars paint after a washing. The guy across the street bought the Mr Clean stuff and the filtered rinse water really does come out great without the mineral deposits/spots.

I assume that Maryland does not have the hot desert sun/heat like Texas, Arizona and Nevada so any name brand wax should work fine. I like the Meguiar's Gold Class because it is a liguid that goes on easy and comes of easy. Paste wax is a real chore. The main thing with liguids is only use a little (more is not better). Wax does not soak into metal it just sits on top so when you apply it really thick you will just end up wiping most of it way.

The Toyota mud guards will also help keep the road tars and winter slush off the car.

Have fun!!

alangc ,
05Limited has the right concept. He took the words right out of my keyboard.
I also use that Mr. Clean product ( Auto Dry ) works great. It take out I would say 98% of the hard water stains. Wich makes is much eazyer to keep up with that nice look. I also agree with the mud guard wich i'm planning to get myself. In fact you can get them in painted vers. at (http://www.anythingtoyota.com)

Drive safely ..
