Just small talk

Get my Avy back this weekend. My wife decided that age 53 was too early for her to retire so she went back to work. She has also found that driving her Mustang convertible is not as relaxing as driving in a comfy car like the Avy. So she has been using the Avy leaving me with the Mustang. With winter approaching we decided she should have a 4 wheel drive or AWD vehicle for her travels to and from work.

Anyway, she has picked the new Ford Five Hundred AWD Limited. Dark metallic blue with pebble interior. It has many of the same features as the Avy plus it comes with the backup warning system and adjustable foot pedals that is tied to the memory seating system. The Ford employee pricing plus a clearance bonus of $1,000. brought the price down to $26,078.00 That is one heck of a price for a car that has a window sticker of $30,500.00 Anyway we pick it up her new car on Saturday and I get the Avy back

wow, congratulations. When it was first announced, it seemed like it'd be a really great car, but i don't hear much about it anymore

I've heard the engine on the 500 is lacking especially compared to the engine. It is one of the nicer looking cars Ford has built in a while. The only reason I would not buy a ford is 1) build quality and 2) re-sale value.

I've been tossing the theory around about the Employee Discount that GM/Chrysler/Ford have been offering. They cannot be making money off of these deals. I would bet that the cost of replacement parts for the Domestic company goes up to make some of the money they lost this summer. You may save money now, but pay for it later in maintenance. Toyota just charges more for everything.

My two cents!

Ford was not near the top of my list either, but it was time for my wife to buy something that makes her happy not me. She really likes the look and comfort items like adjustable pedals and backup sensor without having to pay for Lexus prices.
