Deciphering models???? (AE86, AE92, etc.)

I've done some searching, but there still doesn't seem to be any good info in one post?? I even found out about TE72's by searching, but I think this stuff should all be in the "Corolla History" section, no???????

If AE86 = '86 to ???

What the heck is a '95???


Just Gen 7???

Why are AE86 and AE92 the only choices listed for an icon selection in "reply"?????

No it doesnt go like that. Thats not the year code. its the chassis model and revision.
AE86 = A - series engine, E8 corolla, 6th revision.

Huh? a 4A-FE not found on those pages? Should be, theres been lots of conversation about a 4A-FE too... and since it is an A- family engine, it would be included in the same chassis series as a 4A-GE.
