why is it squeaking?

i have a 94 dx 5-spd, when i was in reverse and turned my wheel to the right to back in the parking lot, i heard a squeak from the engine, is this something i should be concerned with? should i change the belts? it doesn't squeak in the morning when its cold or anything, only when i turn like i did above, any ideas??

yeah my car does that too. If you keep trying to steer after the steering wheel has fully finished turning it makes that sound. I am guessing its normal

does it only make the sound when you trun your wheel or is it always like that? also have you noticed any loss of power in the car?

It is a good practice NOT to steer all of the way to the left or all the way to the right, to where your steering wheel stops turning. That is very hard on the rack and the power steering system.

As for squeels when using the power steering to almost full left or right, check two things. 1)Check the power steering fluid. Do you have enough and has it been changed within scheduled maintenance?2)Check the power steering belt. Is it tight enough and also has it been changed within the scheduled maintenance? Check to see if the pullies to the belts are not glazed over, preventing the belts from 'grabbing' on real well to the turning pullies.

good luck
