1998-2002 Corolla owners

I have read several posts about these models using oil and other problems. I am at 106k with nothing bad to say so far. I want others to post their year,milage, and any problems to see some of the good(and bad) things about them.

72k miles on mine with no engine problems. the main problem to me that is normal with these cars is the smelly ac mold which toyota chooses to do nothing about. the only solution since they wont better design their ac's is to run the ac for several minutes before getting into the car. killing the mold with spray is useless it just comes right back within a week.

I have some interior rattles every once and awhile which is also normal for these cars. I dont believe I'll get another corolla. I'll either get a camry or accord next time.

98 Corolla. Bought 1 month ago with 161,000 miles for $2850.

* 32 MPG city
* Using no oil
* Check engine light on with P0420 code (catalytic converter). Car runs great so I don't plan to fix right now.
* Driver power window switch-button (plastic) broke. Dealer want $200+ for part. Took out and fixed with a tie-wrap to hold switch-button in place..

Hope to get at least another 100,000 miles out of it.

ohhhh, lemme put my input

common things that happens :
-water pump leaks
-noise from timing chain cover are usually the chain.
-serpantine belt tesioner makes noise when loose.
-check engine light comes on maybe cause of VSV failure at tank by-pass, faulty pressure sensor and also dirty MAF sensor.
- and oil leak usually starts from timing chain cov er gasket.

these are usually the only thing that goes wrong with corolla, just make sure you change the air filter around 36000 KM or the MAF sensor get dirty and light come on.

the MAF sensor being not taken care of could cause poof performand and gas mileage correct? I think the person who had my car before me did not do this often cause my mileage is kinda crappy......although I do have a horrible drive gas-wise
