knocking sound in brakes

good day! i have a 97 corolla 1600 GLi A/T (AE111). my problem is the knocking sound on my brakes(front). but everytime they clean it, the knocking disappears but after 3 weeks it comes back. and slight squeaking sound on brake pedal when lightly depressed. a mechanic from toyota told me to replace pad support plate (clip type). tie rods n ball joints are newly replaced. rubber boots(in drive shaft) are still ok.

hope u can help me, and give me ideas or advices aside from toyota mechanic.
