depending how you blew it, it may and may not be rebuildable. as for the nissan engine.... id edit that out as some people on here will flame you for that. Besides toyota has engines that are just as good as lets say an SR20
production engines:
4A-GE 3 versions ( bigport no TVIS, Bigport TVIS, smallport) (105-140)hp
4A-GZE super charged version of the 4A-GE (145-170hp)
4A-GE 20V 5 valve version of the 4A-GE (silvertop 165hp, blacktop 170hp)
- all 1.6 twin cams
3S-G(T)E turbo and non turbo versions (turbo 200hp)
Hybrid enignes:
7A-GE 7A-FE bottom end , 4A-GE top end ( hot topic on the board right now)
4A-GZE twin charged/lose supercharge and single turbo
5A-GE 4A-FE made to 1.8L with HKS stroker kit
do lots of reasearch and have fun with it

The thing is, you could basically put whatever engine you want into whatever car you want, you just need to have a)Knowledge to do it, b)Proper funding if you cant do it yourself.
If you have money, you are in the most enviable position of all.
An 86 motor swap.
It just oozes with cool.
Anywho, you should definately go with a Toyota motor.
An SR20 will go in, but it's a pain in the ass, and it's just about as good as a 3S, which will go in easier (easier but not easy).
It depends on what you wanna do.
Autocross: Built 4A-GE. You'll need the N/A response for best results.
A GZE will work well here too, for the low end power and even torque.
Rally/Drift: 4A-GE 20v. You'll be turning high revs most of the time, which is good because thats where the 20v makes it's power.
Road Racing: 4A-GZE if you plan on racing at a tight track, 20v if you plan on racing at a more open track or if you have the money for a custom gearbox, or even a 3S-GTE if you are racing in a class that allows it and have considered the consequences that go with racing in a class that high.
Street Bruiser: Any motor will do, but a 3S-GTE with ~225hp or more will get you moving with some serious fervor.
The problem with going a Nissan engine is that you'll probably need a lot of custom work wich will really up the cost.
The easiest is just to ether go with a 16V 4A-GE, 4A-GZE or go 20V 4A-GE though you'll need new ECU's and harnesses. Also for the 20V you'll have to do some fire wall work i think cuz it's a bit bigger.
the thing is i was thinkgi about it and i would like 2 eventually put power in my car for now just a engine and then work on the body 2 tiny rust spots and a repaint rims and tire body kit and hood im getting a friend in japan 2 ship me over a body kit and hood mayb if i like what there options are in selection wise i cant find shit all in canada for them (no oint fixing up for it 2 die due 2 rust) then i wanna work on the engine more horses and tourqe now its alot easyer go get say a nissan whatever there engines called with 275 horses stock up to 300 its a shit load harder and more expensive 2 say get a 20v thats say 150 hp (being generouse) up to 300 horses so theres no point in rebuilding my 16 vavle 2 only in a few year take it out and out in a differetn one waist on money if u ask me but i blew 2 4age engines already so i dont think i need more power lol just good bearings ect and mayb a good high preformance cam shft k&n finlter and put in a cold air intake system but im still trying 2 decide i wanna go 4 looks over power but at the same time i like my power lol mayb ill just rebuild my engine again bsides i have 2 including 2 good heads but the 2 bottom end are blown still
Steve Groenink, one of the mods on Dorikaze has an AE86 with an SR20DET on it. Now you gotta put it this way, this guy is awesome! he's already done a lot of swaps and owns or has owned way too many cars including an AW11 with a 3SGTE (SW11? ) and a Levin which is currently undergoing some mods too, and he does his own swaps, if you were to get the same done you're looking at mad $$$$$ in parts and labour.
Toyota Soarer = Lexus IS430
Never driven one irl, but in Forza it's awesome
I still vote for a 3S-GTE, but hey if you are willing to put the time and money into it and you really want something unique, go for the SR20 =)
Ive always been a fan of Nissan... just not as much as Im a fan of Toyota
Weve done the 4AGZE swap in an AE86 and it wasnt *too* bad aside from just a lot of R&D in terms of wiring and custom FMIC piping and so forth. Car ran great and with quite a bit more power it was wayyyyyy too easy to get it sideways
My personal preference would be to go with a turbo application over a supercharger but thats just my 2 cents...
