Corolla MPG vs. new 'IS' MPG........(YIKES!!)........

Well, since..........."I can't GET NO.........da, da, da...........SATISSSSSS---FACTION.......da, da ,da"...........while trying to find info on the next-gen Corolla......

I thought I'd look at the next best thing..............the '06 IS 250/350 cars. (WOW!!!!!!!!!)

One thing that particularly caught my attention was how well Toyota (errr, Lexus) did with the MPG #'s on this vehicle................CHECK THESE #'S OUT...........

250 #'s......
http://www.lexus.ca/lexus/experience...262T&year=2006

350 #'s.......
http://www.lexus.ca/lexus/experience...262T&year=2006

Consider that the 2.5L is showing 29/42.........(Yes, that's right 29 and FORTY-TWO!!!!!!!!!!)

Then, after you're done drooling over that look at the 3.5L's 26/37!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What the heck??????? Considering that some folks aren't even getting the 30 advertised on the Rolla's 1.8L w/ auto..............this is INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And all in w/ buttery smooth 6spd auto's.........I'm in looooove!!!!

I don't see that happenening, never trust the manufacturers website... www.fueleconomy.gov shows Lexus IS 300
6 cyl, 3 L, Auto(S5), Premium1824

for last years model IS300, and lux cars tend to have more weight added per year, rather than removed...

Yes, I agree they are probably conservative........(as are ALL epa estimates)........BUT...........

Remember that fueleconomy.gov simply regurgitates EPA specs on their website, so while the IS300 info is very true.............it will read none different than what I lexus posted when the '06 models are listed on their website.........

Makes ya go..........hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I would be surprised to see them get more than 10% less than what they're claimed and those are still WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY huge numbers for the kinda' motors we're talkin' about.

Look out Corolla...............IS250 is comin' to town!

IS250 -------> <--------IS350

........................... ^
...........................Rolla

That's a Canadian Lexus web site. Wouldn't those numbers be in Imperial gallons, which are about 1.2x larger than U.S. gallons? More gas per gallon means more miles per gallon. :-)

If my calculations are right, 29/42 in Imperial gallons would be about 24/35 in U.S. gallons, while 26/37 would translate to about 22/31 U.S.

Actually, I thought about that too, but the site does show "mpg".

However, even given I-MPG, I think those #'s are still fantastic!!!!!

24/35 and/or 22/31 are just amazing #'s for that kind of car. Consider that those 24/35 #'s are better than the current 2005 model Camry in its 2.4L i-4 in either auto *OR* manual!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's still waaaaaaaaaaay impressive.

It's DEFINITELY time for a new Rolla motor!!!

Or, heck, maybe they can just throw the IS250's 2.5L under the hood!!!!!!
