1986 FWD - hard starting
Over the past few months my 1986 with 50K highway miles (all mine) has become harder to start, hot or cold, and either dies out right away or chugs and gradually builds up RPM over several seconds. After that it runs fine. I couldn't find any vacuum leaks (hoses, diaphrams, solonoid valves), and all the hoses are a year old (Toyota brand). All the carburetor settings seem right (choke angle, accelerator pump stroke, etc.), and the RPMs are adjusted right for base, accessory, and fast. The choke doesn't bind, and it seems to open normally as the choke coil warms up.
A year ago the engine measured 175 PSI and 5% maximum leakdown. Plugs are NGK and all look the same grey.
What could be wrong?
