I don't know what model you have, but in my '95 Prizm (Gen 7 Corolla) w/ the 1.6L and 3sp auto, I get about that.

I usually refill at about 1/4 tank left. I've only owned the car a couple months so I'm not anxious to find the "runnin' on fumes" mark on the gas gage...........LOL!!!!!

I think our So Cal gas sucks. I will say that my '98 Camry gets reeeeally close to the EPA estimates, but can still fall short 1 or 2 mpg on occasion.

I'd say judge it on your true MPG, & not just the tankfull.

Example.......................

My first few tanks have looked as follows..............

204 gallons & 9.4 gallons on fillup

201 gallons & 9.2 gallons

154 & 6.5

194 & 7.6 <------ my best tank yet & immediately after a full-blown tuneup

Now, sure I'd love to fill up the same amount & be puttin' 300 miles on a tank, but unless I drive 100% freeway & 45mph, I just don't think it's gonna happen.

I think if you're getting 200 on a tank, *****BUT**** you're only filling up around 8 or 9 gallons of gas, then I think you're doin' pretty average for an older 4A-FE.

Just my .02!

We had a 96 5 speed that would get 41 mpg on the hwy. MY 99 corolla(4speed auto) gets 33mpg mainly in town religiously. I have been running the 89 octane instead of the 87 in the last couple of tanks and I have seen no gas milage difference.
