4x100 is the pattern, 38-43 offset is fine and as long as you get something 7inches wide maximum you should be ok. (14x7, 15x7, etc.)

So those horrible 13" rims were stock on my car?? I figured someone put them on there! lol

I put 14x6" rims on, no idea of the offset (came off my MR2). I love them! I have 16x7 on the MR2 now, but not sure what fits the SR5.

Ahmed (Xenon) has 16x7 205/45-16s on his SR5, but you have to run spacers with 16s.

My local discount tire store told me any rim would fit provided it was the right bolt pattern and offset. I immeadiately told him that on this car anything 16 and larger needs spacers and he insisted it's simply because of the offset...if this true, or does he just not know what he's talking about? I'm tempted to buy some 17"s, watch them not fit, then demand compensation .

The only thing spacers are for is to change the offset... if you have a 16" wheel with the right offset and width, it should fit the same as a 15" wheel with the same offset and width.

The offset you need is 100% dependant on the width of the wheel though.

Unless there's something totally wacky about the AE92 which nobody told me about .

Hey Jeff.. welcome to TN.

Very true.. I got 15x7 with 43 offset and I don't have to run spacers on mine. I'm guessing anything under 42 offset will probably rub and will need spacers.

It depends. If you need a little shimming, go with a spacer. If you need to move it out (I'd say ANY more than 1/4"), get adaptors. Spacers will stress your studs, adaptors bolt to the studs like rims and have their own studs on them.

no... it is true, there is something different and wacky about the ae92..

first off, the clearence between the front struts and the rears are dfferent...

i just installed my 38 offset 15 x 7 mb 7's ... they clear on the front, but absolutely do not clear on the rear, they rub the struts, or rather the tires rub the resting plate for the spring.

second, its like they let the pro's design the suspension, and then let retards determine the ride height.

... im guessing i will have to run spacers, but im hoping the 1/4" will be enough so that the tires will clear the spring plates(
or wtf ever they are called)

god damn these fucking cars, its always something, always.

Wow... bumping a FOUR year old thread!

But yah, I tried ET38 rims on my AE92. Cleared the front, rubbed horrible on the rear.

old, new, who cares. lol its not like anything has changed with our cars in 4 years.
im currently hunting a set of 1" 4x100 adapters. whats awsome is that i found some 4x100 to 4x114.3, so now we can run all those nasty RWD offset wheels, which you almost need to run any damn way since even +38 still looks like you could pop the tires off and run it on RR tracks. i mean there is still about 2" or so of clearence between the fenderwell and how far back the wheels sit in.
with the spacer adapters, it should fit just perfect.
see below.
