Your compression ratio is about 10 points higher than ours, so yeah...
"she needs premium, dude! premium! dude!"

Really? I just got an '88 gts and I haven't filled it up yet but I thought 87 was good enough for the 88/89's and 92 or 94 was needed for 90 and 91 gts's. I was planning on using 92 anyways, But I didn't think that 87 octane would harm the engine. Hmmmm...

i run the crap out of my engine at track day using 87 and it's still intact.

it's all in ur head. aka placebo effect.

you only need high octane, when you have high c/r

Wrong, I have 8:1 compression but need high octane due to forced induction. Another situation in which you will also need a higher octane fuel
is if you advance your timing.

Right, you're not. I say use 92, you aren't going to get rich by saving the 10 cents difference per litre. Still, if he just got it he most likely wouldn't know what the previous owner has done to the timing, it's very common to add 3 degrees ignition advance for a little more power on stock engines.

then why not shell out a tad more for 94? just a few more cents/litre.

Personally I do, but the guy was asking if he should use 92 or 87 in the original post.

*These figures are not actual power ratings but ones posted in catalogs at the time of sale. On most 4A-GE engines, the power output was actually significantly lower than as stated in brochures distributed in Japan.

I got it in club4ag. Also, they have more cars info, if u drive different corolla, u can check out there!

Your car is an '89. The compression ratio is lower as some have said so high octane is not needed. Only for the '90/'91 's. It won't hurt to use it though.
