AE102 97 Corolla

yo i have around $700 to spend on performance on my 97 corolla CE 1.6L. its COMPLETELY STOCK!

stock muffler
stock air intake
stock headers
stock everything else...

anyways, i could not find any cold air intakes for this car, also where can i find some good cat-backs that i wont have to get custom made, and what are some good headers (again not custom) i can get for this car.

Nobody really makes a CAI for this car. You'd have to do it yourself. Alternately, you could rip the air box out and go with a Ractive (or whatever you like) short-ram intake that'd sit right above the stock piping from the fender, which is sort of a hybrid intake...OBX makes some decent headers for both the 1.6 and the 1.8 Corolla, the only problem is that there may not be a hole for the first 02 sensor. That's easy enough to fix with a good drill bit...

For cat-backs, I haven't found anything. Ebay has some sort of Kyo system from time to time, but I've no personal experience with those.

Headers and intake, assuming you get somebody to put on the headers for you, will probably run you about $300. I'd recommend a front tower strut brace while you're at it, not only are they cheap, they'll also fix the general oversteer (tail swings wide in corners) of that generation.

the OBX headers mentioned do have a place for the O2 just watch it as there are screw in O2's and flange 02's the only issue i had was the upper A/C hardline is a little in the way had to tweek it a little. On the CAI's i have seen some on ebay every now and again..

one other stupid thing i noticed AE102 is usually 1.8L while AE101 is 1.6L

might wanna check the source look on the front right, (right up against the tranny) about halfway down theres a flatspot that will give ya the real block code (7a / 4a)

For $700 your not really going to make huge gains from a 4afe, If i were you i'd just do the handling.

Get some lowering springs with a hardish spring rate, stiffer swaybars, and grippy tyres. And urethane bushes. Corollas can handle very well when set up properly.

Any recommendations on springs? I've seen the Eibach Pro-Kit and H&R. Don't think Tein has any that fit this model. Any others, and any experience/feedback on any of these springs?
