Where are some motor mounts on 1993 Corolla located in engine bay?

Hi all,

I'm trying to locate all the engine mounts in the engine bay of my 1993 Corolla (1.8L auto). I'm using the following post by csaxon for reference:

1. The dog Bone- Stops the motor from moving forward and backwards from driving torque, aka flooring it in drive or reverse.
Usually wears on the piece closest to the front of the car, not all the time though.

2. Front Lower Mount- Holds the motor down on the sub frame and stops the motor from moving up. Usually most noticeable in a thud thunking when letting off the gas at higher speeds. It is hydraulic and rubber. The rubber usually goes, rare occurrence that it leaks, if it does it will be the color of motor oil.

3. Rear Lower mount- Stops the motor from slamming back down from drive torque, and is the only mount stressed in reverse, so if your reverse feels laggy, that’s your pesty mount. As you can see it’s just the bushing you need to buy. If the main bolt through it has worn out the washer or cast mount will you need to buy the washer or the cast.

4. Transmission Mount- This mount takes torque in every possible situation, if you are feeling a thud at mostly all speeds mainly gears beyond 1st and usually second, real bad in over drive, that’s your mount.

5. The notorious Engine moving control Rod- This is a shock. Even with perfect mounts your motor will move some, mounts are only rubber. This piece makes the movement firm, when the motor moves, this shock will bring the motor back down soft.
This piece goes bad and when it does it will get real loose, unbolt it and if you can move it up and down easily, its shot, and YES IT DOES HAVE FLUID IN IT. Mostly mistake it for antifreeze as it is green; if this happens it’s obviously shot.

Without going underneath the car yet, I can see the following three mounts:

1. From the tranny to the front of the frame. Is this the TRANSMISSION MOUNT or the FRONT LOWER MOUNT, per the above terminology?

2. From the passenger side of the engine to right next to the front passenger strut. Is this the DOG BONE?

3. From the lower back of the tranny or differential to a spot near the firewall. Is this the REAR LOWER MOUNT?

And are the other two only visible from below? Thanks!

i donno about "dogbone" i just would call it right/left/center, upper/lower

4. Front of the transmission right beside the engine to the longitudinal crossmember

from the ENGINE there's only one. on the passenger side.

not quite sure why you're asking this and not just going out and looking under your hood. it's easier to go look then have someone tell you

Hi foomanji, I just saw your PM. Sorry for the late reply. I posted my engine mount troubleshooting in the camry section.Your mounts are slightly different.
I pulled up the site below. Scroll through it and click on the pictures to enlarge. It shows the mounts locations and how to access them. There are some mounts on the crossmembers under the car.

It's also a good site for repairs. Hope this helps.

If it comes up camry instead of corrolla, then select repair info, then vehicle repair guides, click on find repair guide for different vehicle, select 1993, toyota, then corrolla. select the engine&engine overhaul section. All the info I mention above is there.
