Cusco 2-way LSD install Question (ae86)

Hi

I purchased an ae86 GTS with a 2-way Cusco LSD already installed. It was obvious that the rear end needed new axel bearings so we took it to a friend's shop. The pinion seal in the diff also was leaking. When we pulled the diff. it was clear we needed new carrier bearings as well.

We bought the axel and carrier bearings, new crush sleeve, and new seals from Toyota. I believe the diff. was completely disassembled, except for pulling the clutch pack.

On reassembly I am told that there is too much side play between the diff. and the carrier bearing section to allow the diff to be properly tightened. We called Drift Factory and they told us that we could use spacers and it would be okay (only a few thousandths in the first place).

Today the shop has told me that they can't set the pre-load on the bearings properly, and that there is too much space between the driveshaft and the pinion to make a connection, but it drove there in the first place... basically they confused the hell outta me, and I think they may be over their heads... I know they are unfamiliar with the vehicle, and I'd assume Cusco as well. I'm a bit confused as to why the bearings and seals couldn't just be replaced and everything bolted back in. Besides the bad bearings and leaking the diff. did lock up on accel and decel very well.

Does anyone have a install guide for a Cusco diff? Or even the stock LSD install? I need specs, illustrations, suggestions, everything... My car has been in the shop a week already (couldn't get all parts in until 3 days after drop off), and it's already a major inconvience. Please ask me ?s if you need more info...

Please help
