Well Sunday will be the last day I will have my old AE86 as it is going to be sent off to a scrap yard on monday. While preping the engine to be pulled tomorrow I discovered a few things about this car.
1. The tranny is new!
2. The exaust pipe is new as well as the muffler.
3. The 4A-GE (85-87) is actually JDM.
well seeing how the bottem of the engine and every thing else has rust on it and the tranny is still very clean and has no rust or anything on it I am lead to beleave it is new.
i don't think i've ever seen a t-50 casing rusted before.. not that i've seen that many.. maybe 4 or so.. which brings up an interesting question.. i wonder what that casing is made of..
at any rate, i wouldn't assume its new because of that

Well the other tranny on the car I bought off you is blackened with crap while this one is still silver. It may have been replaced/reconditioned when the engine was replaced 3 years ago.

just because it was cleaned, doesn't mean it was reconditioned.. a better indicator would have been how it felt to shift when it was in the car

The few times I did drive it it shifted nice and smooth. I thinki it was beter than the one in my car but I can't be sure seeing how it is no longer in a car.
