Talking 93 Corolla I painted with a freind (56K GO AWAY!)

Ok so back in April me and my freind did something stupid. We decided to paint his corolla. But we did it the cheap way, Automotive Spray paint from Autozone . Now we just didnt go and ruin a good paint job, his old paint was fucked anyway and he didn't really care what his car looked like so we did it for fun.

Here was our procedure:
  1. Down to paint, Pull dents and bondo.
  2. 3 Coats of Primer
  3. 3 Coats of Paint
  4. 2 Coats of 2 different Clear Coat.
But here is how it came out:

Yes it looked really glossy and nice for about a week till the weather hit it Now its a faded Royal Blue with black bumpers. It looks like a toy car.

What do you guys think? Go ahead and speak nuttin but the truth!

You could have avoided the "applied with a towel" look if you had simply wetsanded the color, then wetsanded the clear. 2500-grit would have done wonders for the paint. Compound, polish and wax, and you'd have a stunner. Oh, and 3 coats of clear, please.

Hey, you asked for the truth!

I've seen some nice paintjobs on cars and even done a couple on motorcycles out of a can. See www.duplicolor.com.

I painted my prizm 2 years ago... took a little more professional approach, results turned out ok. I never finished buffing out the clear so it looks ruff in some spots.

After that experiance though, I really want no more to do with painting unless I have a good setup and all the right tools...
anyway, here's the results (the bling hub caps make all the difference)
