Couple of more questions about my 95

There are a few other things going on with my 95 corolla that i am not sure where to start to fix.First of all the tripmeter doesnt work. The odometer works fine as does the speedo.Could the cable to the tripmeter just need replaced or ??ALso,i took the dash apart 2 days ago and afterwards noticed my cars brights wont come on at all.How does this route through the dash to the headlights.I also had detailed the engine that day.Any help is much appreciated.

there are no cables to the instruments, its all electronic. You'll prolly have to get a whole new cluster. fyi, if you don't have a tach and you want one, find a cluster with a tach and it will plug right in and work perfectly.

as for your brights ... do the brights come on at all? are you talking about the indicator light on the dash not comming on? Please explain a lil further. thanks.

your brights not comming on might be the relay. Now I am not so familiar with the 95 model. But I know the older corolla's like my 89 have multiple fuse boxes. I have one my the driver's kick panel, and 2 in the engine bay. my detailing the engine, if they sprayed it down water might have gotten in there and shorted our the relay when you went ot turn it on. but that could also be the switch or a fuse rather than a relay...
And even if there was a cable going to your speedometer there wouldn't be a seperate one for the tripometer.

Yes,they do nothing at all. They did before i degreased the engine and took apart the dash.I have no idea what i may have unhooked or whatever.I need to get a haynes or chilton manual.Freakinbox,i do plan on switching to the instrument cluster with the tach.In fact i am going to the junkyard today to hopefully get one. Thanks for the replies guys.

350 be careful, if you switch the cluster doesn't that switch the odometer reading? You resell that thing and get caught on CarFax you could get sued. If you sell and don't tell them and it does change odometer, like I think it would, that is fraud! If you do tell them you just lost major resell value on your car. Just something to think about. If I wrong please tell me, because I would to do the same on my 96, get a tach cluster that is.

dandxg,it my understanding that as long as u dont try to misrepresent the cars mileage and tell the potential owner of the cluster change then u should be alright. What i would do is write down the mileage of the old cluster and the new one and just keep up with it from there and add it to the old mileage to get the total mileage(i hope that makes sense).Even take pictures if you have to.I went to the junkyard and they didnt have a single corolla with the tach gauge cluster. This will be harder to find then i thought.

That seems like a good idea, a digital picture which shows the date for verification. One suggestion, search online for your part on google, shipping may not be that expensive. Good luck.

U.S. spec E10 Corollas (without daytime running lights), along with many other Toyotas, use negative-switched main beams. The headlight relay supplies power to both main and dipped beams whenever the headlight switch is on (or the main beams are flashed by pulling back on the column stalk), so if the main beams are not working and the dipped beams are, the problem is isolated to the main beam circuit (possibly including the switch). Does the main beam indicator come on when the main beams are switched on, either by pushing the stalk forward or pulling back (flash-to-pass)? If so, the problem is isolated to a splice point, a junction block, or the wire in between.
