ARmorall is amazing! cleans everything plastic, and is suposed to protect it and keep the platic from drying out. Did a fine job on my bumpers too, they look like new . Only problem with armorall is how shiney the dash is, talk about a reflection off the windsheild lol. It's the streering wheel you have to be careful with, some are wierd and the smooth shit will rub off, not good! looks like crap. I did that to my moms van lol. The older cars tend to have a different material, more like the dashboard itself, so it cleans up with armorall

Once you clean the dash off, you should use something with UV inhibitors in it like 303 Aerospace Protectant. I think the new Armor-All also has UV inhibitors too, but not sure. However, if you prefer a matte (factory) finish, use Meguiar's Quick Interior Detailer.

Cleaning human grunge off the wheel, shifter and door panels can be done with a dedicated vinyl cleaner; most are gentle enough to avoid stripping any surfaces, but if you've left your car out in the sun, the material's probably deteriorated to a certain extent anyway.

I like Meguiar's Gold Class Vinyl/Rubber Protectant. It works great, and smells even better.

armourall is SHIT DO NOT USE IT..also DO NOT STOP USING IT.

if you stop now you WILL 110% guranteed to make the dash crack, its fkn useless shit.

i use a simple moulded carpet protector... 11 years of the harsh aussie sun and its still soft and if i take it off it looks brand new.

I agree w/ NOT using Armor All.

I hated Armor All on interior pieces when it came out & STILL hate it to this day.

That stuff is pork grease in a bottle. Keep that sh*t off your dash!!!!

I have a '95 Prizm, '98 Camry and '98 Ford F150. NONE of them have EVER seen Armor All on the interior & all dash pieces are in PERFECT condition!!!!!

FWIW, I simply wipe down the dash when I wash my car, with a clean, damp terry-cloth towel. That's it!!! Nothing more!!!!

Man..................if I didn't say it loud enough the first time...........I absolutely HATE Armor All used on interiors. And that's ANY of those kinds of products. Son of a Gun, Wet this, Wet that, F-this & F-that. NEVER on my dash................EVAAAARRRRRRRRRR!!!!

I tried ArmorAll, mostly on wheels, and was never really impressed with it. I'm more going for protection against sun drying out rubber and plastic and it didn't seem to do much for that.

Probably the best thing you can do for protecting your dash is use a sun screen when parking the car. People often just use these in summer to keep the car cool but even in the winter the light can get to your dash, causing the vinyl to break down.

That said, with 24 year old cars I do have problems with the dash cracking and other exposed vinyl (like on the back of the rearview mirror) turning powdery. I managed to restore some of the finish using a newish product by Turtle Wax that is basically a weak solution of polyurethane and makes the vinyl shine. Be warned though, it makes things very, very slippery and shiny. My dash and stuff look great but there is increased reflection off the window. Keep it off the steering wheel because it makes it too slippery for safety.

Cheap huh? ...So how does using a terry cloth towel stop the UV rays and keep your dash from cracking especially if you like in the sun belt area

I replaced the headlights in my car with strobe lights, so it looks like I'm the only one moving.

Ignorance is bliss, eh?

One's dash cracking has so little to do with UV rays it might be argued none at all..........

Your laminated windshield does most, if not, all of the job itself.

If you really want to protect your dash, use a windshield cover, dashboard cover.......... or put the car in a garage!!!!!!

Armor All belongs on tires..................THAT'S IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (20yrs of drivin' in So Cal...........not a single dash crack in any car I've ever owned since 1985!!!!!!!!)
