USA help my silver top is overheating

ok I have a small problem i needed some advice about I did a swap on my 94 toyota corolla and put in a ae101 20v silvertop engine. It automatic it has only first and second gear and it overheats very quickly. the water pump is good and th radiator is brand new. not sure about the thermostat. Can any body help me trouble shoot these problems?

I would suggest checking the thermostat... Make sure all hoses, if not already brand new, are good, or even that there is enough coolant (sounds obvious, but you never know lol)

USA thermostat?

so how would you go about checking the thermostat. I was tought at school to hold a light by one end and it should open up if it doesnt move then its bad right?

Well, take it out, and run the car. If it doesn't overheat, bam, it was the thermostat.

You said that the tranny will only shift in first and second?

hold a light on one end?? wow that must b some kinda really hot light.... lol
what u do is take out the old thermo and put it in BOIL HOT WATER and u should see it open... if it doesn open then its fine if it doesnt then its time for a new one... dun worry about them costin u 2 much money... they r less then $15 in canada =)

I already figured out the problem I bought one of those trd radiator cap and I blew a hole in the neck of my radiator and I also replaced the thermostat as well and fixed my problem with no heat in the car. thanks for your help.
