Noise from new Winter Tires?

I just installed x-ice Winter Tires (195/55/16) on my xrs.

My ride seems a lot louder now when in gear compared to same speed in neutral, so I am not sure if it could be coming from the tires.

But I don’t know what else it could be, you think it’s possible for snow tires to make more noise when a car is in gear? Anyone here have the same issue?

Studded or not?
Its normal for especially studded winter tires to make a weird sound when your car is pulling. Even studless tires give out a louder noise.

Like I said its normal, studded make even louder rackett, because they have the studs grinding on the asphalt.

I'm with stu.. I mean with Flashmn. Winter tires always make a loud humming noise due to the tread pattern and compound. BTW studs are not allowed in the southern parts of Canada, only on northern parts where the snow is very high.

Really? I live fairly far south (1.5 from the border) and there are a ton of people that have studded tires here (too many if you ask me, they're too bloody noisy )

I'd rather have some noise, knowing that people have grip when they drive.

Summer tires during winter is absolutely insane.

Yup, it does sound like noise from the tires gripping when being pulled.
These tires look heavy duty. I am actually looking forward to some snow now.

Thanks for the info!

Yeah the X-Ice are loud tires and I have noticed the same condition.
I think that additional tire noise when in gear might be related to additional acceleration which translates into those little grooves moving around just a bit more. Ok well that seemed to make sense to me. LOL!

And yeah, you will notice the increased sponginess (floating) in the tires compared to your stock performance tires. It makes one wanna cry and pray for spring.
