4A-C problem

i'm trying to figure out what exactly the problem is, and how i can fix it. about maybe close to a month ago my engine started making a clicking sound. well its pretty loud now. it is now running rough at idle and during a cruising speed.

i just checked my spark plugs and they seem to be showing the symptoms of being "too hot" as noted in haynes. i had just replaced the spark plugs and distributor cap and wires, not but maybe a year ago. changed the fuel filter. changed the oil. changed the air filter.

not sure what else to do but bring it somewhere. by the way when i first heard the noise i did contact a mechanic, however he has been too busy for my car. i will have some other guy take a look at it and see if he can tell what it sounds like. stay tuned for a better discription of the noise.

any suggestion and or thoughts will be well appreciated.

well it sounds really bad. just took a second look at it and it sounds like the rod bearing or something. believe i have low oil pressure or something.
it was described as "a deep metal banging against metal" type of sound. any further suggestions will be much appreciated.

as of now i will not be able to drive my 86' until this is taken care of.
