Clutch noise

When i push the clutch in, about 4/5 of the way down, i get a popping, or knocking noise, if i do it super smooth, it does not make a noise, but i can feel some feed back in the clutch, like going though a rough spod.. it makes a similar noise when lifting my foot off the clutch..

also, when the car hesitates, it makes more "knocking" noises.. Births auto told me its probabally a body mount, this is all on the left side of the car.. what body mount could i check to see if there is a problem?

Sounds like a throwout bearing to me.

There are four mounts, one on each side of the engine/tranny assembly, and one on the front and back.
