car doesn't start

one of my friend's car doesn't start, it tries to start like 1 time and then after that its a click click click sound, changed battery, changed spark plugs, could this be the starter?? but the click click click sound means the starter is working, right? and...cant be fuel pump because there's oil/fuel/gas on the spark plugs, so what is missing?? and nothing happens if you pump the gas pedal when trying to turn on the key, also the car is draining the battery, BUT took it to auto zone and test it and it seems to be fine, so what can this be?

Probably the starter. I had a similar problem on my old 4Runner, changed out the contacts and it worked fine after that.

Here's a link on how to do it for a Toyota V6, probably similar to yours.

Starter...99%...Trying to crank a bad starter will make the lights dim like its draining the battery....Lol...the first thing people do is go out and buy a new battery without checking it out first...I was going to say check your alternator also but if you put in a new charged battery it should have cranked the engine over even if you do have a bad alternator....Good Luck...Radd Guy....

If you must choose between two evils, pick the one you've never tried before.

my car does that sometimes, the click click thing when I turn the key but if I do a couple times it starts, but it's not very often.
