How to turn off belt beep??

Just got my new corolla and I'm already going crazy.
I use the belt most of the time but there are times when it feels like it's not necessary. After you've stopped at the mailbox and have to drive 200 m (on a private road) then stop get out and open a gate, drive in and park for example. The stupid thing just beeps and beeps and you just feel like smashing something.
Has anybody got a solution to the problem? At the garage they say it can't be turned off. That can't possibly be true?? Help!!!

it is possible. You have to remove a belt signal from the combination meter. Can be done in 10 min. For the safety sake they lied to you. For the same reason I wont tell you more.

Canada Mr

CARO:

I too, have a 2006 Corolla and it is driving ME crazy as well, for the same reasons you stated - in my own driveway.

I went to that same link to try to stop MINE from beeping and have been unsuccessful.

IF you are able to stop it, please let me know how you did it.

Thanks

Byrde

I'd say it's worth it to leave it on.....all the annoyance is a small price to pay compared to the loss of your life or someone else.

I think the beep is cheap insurance, to always remind me to wear my belt.

I just went to the junkyard and got a matching snap in latch/buckle...I traced out of mine on cardboard and went car to car looking in a junkyard...They didn't have any late model Corollas so I matched one from a older Datsun, I snaps in great and and when I go on long drives I just throw it into my console box and use my seat-belt...It stops all the blinking lights and the noise and you don't even know its there ...I also picked one up for the passenger side ...Please don't tell the cops ...Radd Guy...

There are TONS AND TONS of info on how to do this....if you use the search - you get the answer now, rather than having to wait and get lucky like right now (rare).

Here ya go:

And to the pundits who ramble about not disabling the beep because *blah blah blah*, well God Bless Democracy and Free Thought. We're all adults here and take responsibility for our own actions.
