1996 Brake Question

i have a 96 corolla made in canada. I'm getting the brakes change for the first time on all four. What are they? i never knew there were so many types of brakes and i didn't know i had two different kinds. The back i was told is brake drums and gosh i don't even know what the front is. I know you must be thinking "what a girl!" Help someone! I wanted to buy the parts and take it to the dealer to put it on. I found someone to replace my front brakes but he said he didn't know how to do the back brake.

Most dealers will only install parts that they sell.

Look for a reputable mechanic near you. Anybody that knows how to do front discs but boggles over rear drums is a tad iffy.

I'd recommend the Mechan-X files, a giant database of good mechanics started and maintained by the Car Talk community. http://www.cartalk.com/content/mechx/

I agree with Piloter. You don't want a guy that stands behind every brake job (because he won't stand in front of it)...bad joke...anyway, go to someone with experience. Your brakes are very important.
