Hey Sebastien, there's a lot more people living in Southern Ontario and a lot more cars on the road as well. This means higher risks for collisions, thefts, vandalism for people living here, but insurance rates drop off a lot if you live in the rural areas on a farm or smaller towns up in cottage country. They changed the law here to a minimum fine of $5000 on your first conviction for driving without insurance and it goes up a lot more if you're convicted again. It used to be only a $200 fine per offense, but people were willing to pay the fine as a cost of not having to insure themselves. In the past, if you were quoted $10,000 for insurance you could save yourself $9800 even if you were caught. Now the fines cost as much as you pay in insurance so they have taken away that incentive.
PS: I heard you almost had to make an insurance claim on your cars the other night, that pisses me off...
