95 Corolla...is it a good deal?

I want to buy a 1995 Corolla I saw on Saturday. He wants 2900. for it (private seller). He is the original owner and has repair records. It is very clean and looks well-cared for. It has 115K miles. It is a 5-speed, base model (I think). Is this a good deal? I don't have much money, but I want something that will be reliable. Anyone have an opinion? Thanks in advance.

$2900 is really, really pushing it for a base model, especially 5-spd.

Mileage looks pretty decent, but be careful. Around 120,000 miles is when all kinds of shit breaks in cars and needs to be replaced/repaired. Check the repair records to see if anything major has been replaced. Has he changed the alternator or ignition? These are things that I remember went wrong with my car, but I really can't tell you what will break and what won't.

Anyway, I'd say that around $2000-$2300 is a fair price, def not more if its a base model (1.6L). $2700 is probably the most I'd pay for a DX (1.8L).

Offer him $2500 and go from there.. I've seen cars with higher mileage for more.
