snowtires

I was wondering what everybody uses for snow tires. I live in NH. What should I look for?
Thanks, Matt

I'm using Kleber kapnor 4's. Basically a renewed (cheaper) version of the already discontinued Nokian Hakkapelitta 2, made by michelin by license from nokia.

But if you have the money I'd get nokian hakkapelitta 4's

Any tire with studs is a tire that I use. Studded costs $8 more per tire and I find it the most important.

I'll back up the studded tire recommendation. They rock. Stopping and starting on ice is like being on gravel.

My experience with studded tires was not good though. The tire dealer used some cheepo studs, which wore quickly, and fell out. Another tire dealer I asked about them told me that the studs that were used are 1000 for $1, so he was not surprised at all. I went back to the original tire dealer, complained, and they replaced them under the road hazard that I bought. Replacements were unstudded, and siped by them, which I was impressed by the winter performance. Siping being where the tire dealer cuts into the tread using a special machine.

By the way, driving with studded tires on dry surfaces is not fun. Car wonders. Noisy.

i have a set of Bridgestone Blizzak WS-50. they're average IMO, but better than all season high performance (Goodyear Eagles) in snow season.

You gotta remember studded tires are not legal just everywhere.

I like the Motomaster Icetrac tires, they're great tires and I forget who makes them for Canadian tire but they're good.

I went with the michelin x-ice. I just put them on so I am not sure how they perform in the snow yet. But what a difference on dry compared to my michelin pilots. I have almost lost it a few times exiting off ramps.
The x-ice do feel like they will grip pretty good in the snow - cant wait to see.

And they are studless, here in Ontario you cant have studs on yo tires.

Besides the Icetrack's I also have Wintermark Magnagrips (Walmart and other stores sell them) They were actually good but not as good as the Icetrack tires, the Icetracs seem to have more traction on ice.

Toyo G02+. Very popular over here.

My GF had Yokohama IG-10 installed on her 06 Matrix XR.

Motomaster IceTrac were made by Michelin, at least in 99, when they came out. Drove 5 winters with them on a Honda Accord and they delivered very good winter bang for the buck.
