Largest Tire Size

I have a 2000 Corolle CE and want to change the tires for winter. Will likely go with a decent all season with a bit better tread for winter use here in Canada. The question I have is that I would like to know the maximum tire size to use on the car. Could not find it in the owners manual. I would like to increase the height of the tire as the car seems to sit fairly low overall. Is this the second part of the size..ie 75R? No idea?

Looking at a tire it goes like this: Tire Width/Aspect/Rim size

So for a 155/80/R13 it would be 155mm wide, 80% of that from rim to tread and 13" rim.

Looking at that, it isn't very clear. So, maybe just use the calculator here instead

I have seen as tall as 185/75R14 on a '93 Corolla (same chassis/wheel arches '93-'02), though I can't vouch for drive as stated above, 75 is relative to the width of the tyre, so a 185/75R14 is shorter than a 205/75R14. Generally, for a given tyre width and aspect ratio, a tyre two series wider and one series shorter will be of the same height... i.e., 185/65R14 and 205/60R14, 225/60R16 and 245/55R16, and so on. On that note, being a '00 CE, unless it was ordered with the Touring Package (white faced gauges, rocker panel extensions), it came with 175/65R14 tyres... thus, 185/65R14 tyres would be taller, though for winter, the rule is narrower tyres, so not much point to that...

2000 Corolla probably came with 185/65-14s or 175/65-14s you could probably go to 175/70-14s I wouldn't go any lower than that.
