2005 XRS Oil Change

Hello, I've done many oil changes on other cars, but this is my first crack at my new 2005 XRS, actually 2nd oil change, first one was done by the dealer. I've searched the forums as much as I can and I have a few questions/comments:

1. Can't find the Hayne's or Chilton's manual, I assume they're not out yet. Are there any other good manuals?

2. I plan on going with Mobil-1 Synthetic 5W-30 (I'm at 10,000 miles).

3. Where is the oil drain plug? I could probably find it, haven't looked yet, but anyone have a picture?

4. Hopefully the dealer will have the filter (another poster said he had a problem getting one at his dealer), but does anyone have the Fram or Purolator part number for the XRS?

5. Read a lot about how bad the stock transmission fluid is and how it should be replaced, Redline MT90, etc. Seems easy enought to do, but how important is it? Can I wait until say 30000 miles?

Thanks in advance.

Hopefully this would help with your oil change.. the only problem is that I done with a 1zz-fe. You can get oil filters from the dealer.

For tranny fluid, i would just check regularily for any color change or burnt odor untill the 30,000 mile mark.

I just changed the oil on my 05 xrs. The filter and plug are right up front and are cake to get to. I used the 5w-30 Mobil 1 Synthetic and also splurged for the Mobil 1 oil filter. I have read report after report about how Frams are crap. Purelator is supposed to be decent along with the Amsoil one. But, the mobile one has a bypass valve in case of a blockage. All together Oil and filter were about 30 bucks. But I feel safe knowing I have some top dollar stuff that is proven to work well protecting my engine.

Compared to domestic cars, the Corolla is a snap to change the oil in. American car companies should take a few lessons from them.
