Got an Injen CAI for 05XRS

I got an injen CAI for my '05 XRS, and it is awesome. It is actually made for the '04 matrix but it fit perfectly on my XRS and it's running great now.

The install went OK, but the Injen instructions are terrible. Throw them away and find a how to with pics on the net. I had to take off the front bumper and it took 3 hours to do (it would have taken less but a few beers and some goofing off made it drag out longer). The filter is inside my front bumper right under the headlight, protected by plastic liners and what not so I seriously doubt it could ever hydrolock unless I drove into a pond, at which point I have more to worry about.

The power difference is tremendous. It pulls harder and more smoothly all throughout the rev range, whether cruising around town or hitting lift. Lift sounds insane now, like the motor is going to jump out of the hood. It pulls much more than it used to, especially in lift.

I highly recomend the Injen CAI, it made a big difference all around. I got mine from ptuning.com, their service was great and it only took 3 days to get to me in NC from California.

The CAI really wakes up the 2ZZ motor

That must be sick man.

What about the Toyota warranty, what would you do if something happened to your engine?

The only warranty voided was the one on my stock airbox.

Warranty on the motor is not voided if you do the intake, and the exaust from the cat con back. If you touch the catalytic converter or the headers, or any engine internals your warranty is caput. If you only do the intake and the exaust you are fine.

There was a law passed in the '70s that says that if you put aftermarket on your car and something happens and the dealer does not want to honor the warranty, they have to prove in court that your parts caused the problem. That would prove tough, unless you hydrolock your motor (which I am not worried about because my intake is in my bumper, where water can't even splash on it, and I'd have to drive into a pond to submerge the filter)
