tinting question

would it be wise to pay a shop to tint my windows or should i just attempt to do it myself for the very first time? i know i might messed up the very first few times, but learning from mistakes is what i do best. What do you guys think? i went to a shop for an estimate and they said it'll be about $220 for my car, i was like "holly sh**" really? wow, are these tints THAT expensive?? i was thinking more around the $100 range, but thats ok

i'm not a tint expert, but i know you have to cut it precisely, apply to window, scrap air bubbles out, then heat it, you guys think it'd be wise to do it myself or pay $220+ for the shop to do it?? in other words, is tinting easy enough for a beginner to do?? and learn? hanks...

$220 seems a bit high.

You might be able to do the side windows, but I would recommend getting the back window done by a professional. Tinting the back window, with it's curvature, makes it hard. Doing it in strips is old school. A good tinter will do it in one piece, with no problems. Tinting over the dot matrix, if present, will not be a problem for a good tinter either.

If you do attempt tinting the sides windows, at least go buy GOOD tint from a tint place. Metallic based, NOT dye based.

I consider a price under $200 for a full tint job, with windshield strip, with metallic based tint, with lifetime warranty, a fair deal.

I paid under $200 for a full tint job, with windshield strip, with lifetime warranty, on a 03 Civic EX Coupe, and on a 05 Accord LXSE coupe.

Just make if you do it yourself or have someone else do it that it is not a very humid day. I had mine done on a humid day and it took about 3 days for all of the water bubbles to dry out of my tint. If you do have a dot matrix make sure they prep that area, I not exactly sure what it is tinters use to prep it, but I watch the guy do it and it came out perfect!

DIY tinting is just plain wrong. It will look like an amature and full of bubbles - just like those ghetto Cavalier's with neon coloured windshied washer blades. Let a professional do the job or you'll hate the fact you wasted good money and time on the tint.

You should be able to get yours done by a professional for under CDN$160. I had mine done at Tint King and they did an amazing job..
