2005 XRS Oil Filter...YZZA2 or YZZF2?

Went to the Toyota dealer to get an oil filter for my 2005 XRS. I asked if the XRS is the same as the regular Corolla, and the salesman confidently assured me that it was, the F2 (I was skeptical from the beginning). However, when I take the old filter off (put on by the dealer on my first oil change), it's an A2, the taller one. I go to Pep Boys and the Fram filter for the XRS is the same as the regular corolla, the smaller one. The Purolater had diffent oil filters for the XRS and regular Corolla, but they were out of the XRS one, so I couldn't compare.

Basically, I bought the Fram (small one) just so I could take both Toyota filters back and show them and ask what the hell is going on. Can anyone clear this up? Am I ok with the smaller filter on there? Should I go with the bigger filter (Pros/Cons)?

Thanks

Oh, and if I do go with the bigger one, is it ok to simply replace the smaller one with the big one, or will I have to re-do the oil change? Dumb quesiton I'm sure, but don't really know if that's ok

regular 1zzfe corollas use F1, 2zzge corollas/matrix/celicas use F2

F2 is also used on 4 Cyl camry, 4AGE engines, rav4, etc etc

the shorter F1 on 4afe/7afe, sometimes used on 4cyl camry and other models as well

All the Toyota 4 cyl engines can use the same filter. However, just ask for the taller one.

And if you've already changed it once, and are planning on pulling the small one off for the new one, don't bother. Running the small filter shouldn't harm your car. Just change your oil a little sooner.

I'm sorry but you're backwards. the 2ZZGE takes 90915-YZZF1, which is the taller one, I think I would know, I own one and buy them all the time

can i laugh at this?

get the longer one, it jus tmeans youll have more filtering going b4 the bypass opens and lets the filter not filter.

Ok, I have the F2 on there which is the smaller one. So next oil change I should get the F1, the taller one. But explain to me why the dealer put the A1 on there the first time? Was that discontinued and replaced with the F1?

Thanks again.
