Question Recycling Water heater.

hello Fellow Corolla Owners.

Has anyone every heard of a "Recycling Water heater"? Its a device that heats the coolant as it pumps through the system.

I was thinking of getting one for my 89 rolla GTS but my dealer suggested that these devides arnt really good for engines as new as mine. Being aluminum and all. But also suggested that I ask a local parts store and see if they have one with a low enough pressure pump.

So the question is, has anyone esle used a recycling water pump in there car and what were your results.

I guess I didnt give you a reason why I want one. For winter. See the idea is that you plug it in like your block heater but as soon as you turn your car on your have a warm engine, so no long idle waits.

Thanks
Snip3r

So you're talking about webasto?
Blockheater is quite sufficient.

The engine will warm up quicker, and so will the cabin, but it won't help in starting the engine since the oil is still at ambient temperature.
If you drive easy for the first couple of KM's, you shouldn't have to wait in idle for the engine to warm up. In fact, most owner's manuals do not recommend idling an engine to warm it up.

Actually the engine wont warm up any quicker than with a block heater. You wanna guess why? Because the thermostat wont open until the water inside the engine reaches 82deg.

That's why you use it to heat up the water inside the engine, not the rad.
But... I'm not sure where the bypass hose is on a '89 Corolla, or if the heater hose will suffice.
If there is one, connect into it. If not, use a block heater. But it all depends on what the goal is... easier starting or faster warmup.

Yeah, block heaters are put into place into one of the water caps on the block. It heats the water inside the block.
