Question 0W-30 in the manual??

I have a 1zzfe engine but not in a Corolla (a Vibe). The owner's manual for the Vibe allows the use of 0W-30 engine oil. I am curious what the Corolla manual states about this viscosity? Can you check for me?

I have an XRS Corolla. but the manual is for botht eh 1zz and 2zz enignes. It jsut says 5W-30 period. It doesn't differentiate between the two enignes. So, that's what I gave it.

So it doesnt actually prohibit the use of another viscosity but rather only lists 5W-30... regardless of outside temperature?

It doesn't prohibit.. it recommends. I would stick to 5W-30 for winter and 10W-30 for summer. Toyota recommends 5W-30 all year round, this has just started in the last few years as I always put 10W-30 for summer and 5W-30 for winter. They even charge you more now if you ask for 10W-30.
