I'm getting piss poor mileage and I'm using premium too! I filled up on Wednesday night (at 79.5 BTW! ) and I've already killed a quarter tank. 34km to work and back plus about 10km fooling around town. Can't wait to get the 89 GTS back on the road.. at least I can use regular on it.
If you are getting bad mileage replacing the o2 sensor can help because basically what an O2 sensor does and test how much fuel and air mixture is exiting from the engine to the exhaust. If the O2 sensor is failing, there will be more gas and less air, causing less mileage and your car to run slower (its actually faster to run it rich - less fuel more oxegen).
Also, replacing your fuel filter (which you are suppoed to do every 2 years or every 15000km) will improve the fuel mileage

Reason: spelling
technical thing, there will be more gas, but the amount of air will be the same. But since you have more fuel you'd be running rich. That also depends how the o2 sensor goes, it can go so that the ecu reads rich and leans it off.
I get around 28mpg s on my 96 1.8 4 speed. That is in the middle of auto-rx and just seafoaming. Seafoam seems to have helped a bit I will say, auto-rx will take awhile as I don't drive that much anymore. If I drive all highway, I could get 36mpg using approx 9 gallons of 85 0r 87 octane, 85 is the norm in high alt Denver. Also I changed the plugs about 9k miles ago and change the air filter every 7-10k, which is very important. I am also considering switching my newer camry to complete amsoil syth for oil and tranny, that seems to help as well on mpg as I have read.
I get about 33mpg around town in mine with 87 octane. as long as i keep oil in it. once i get done with this camshaft seal swap i shouldn't have that problem anymore though.
i get 10L/100km with my truck ...and its a v8....well it was 435 km and i filled up for 45 liters so its around the 10.3 mark...lol....so iam no sure i think u should be a bit less near the 8 or 7's...

I'm probably replacing the O2 Sensor soon as I can tell by reading the E-Test paper that the car passed but not with flying colors or anything, so by now it's probably doing worse.
Fuel filter is not neccesary every year, I asked The Toyota dealership (Whitby Toyota one of the best dealers in the Toronto area) and the service manager told me to replace it when it goes, if its not causing any problems like leaking and stuff like that then its not necessary. I'm gonna replace it anyways just to be on the safer side and see if this does anything.
