I have a fx16 gt-s with the 4AG-E engine, when I ordered the fanbelts for it they said I would need 3, but when I looked at mines it only has 2! Their diagram does not match mines, I have one idler pulley instead of two.
I have a/c, powersteering. One belt drives the alternator and water pump, the other belt drives the a/c and power steering. People might say it's not the original engine, but i'm not the original owner, so I don't no. Need help! This guy at toyota said it could be japanese engine, but it's a blue top and I'm confused! :o Need any suggestions please.
I have 2 4AGE engines and they both only got 2 that are visable. One is from a FR Corolla GT-S and the other from a early FF Corolla GT-S.
There may be another belt but my Repair manual in in the garage.
Where is the location of this 3rd belt you saw in the diagram?
Mabey it's the belt that goes around the cams?
hey what's up, thanx for the info. I asked for fan/drive belts and they said there are 3, it's not including the timing belt. I think they were wrong, but the toyota diagram they have of the 4AG-E is one belt for the alternator, one for power steering that has an idler pulley around it, and one for the a/c with an idler pulley, all connected to the crankshaft.
I think that the 3rd belt they are talking about, is if you don't have powersteering, then you're suppose to use another belt for it. I have a Haynes manual but they don't say or a diagram of the drivebelts.
I checked and looked and looked, but only see 2 belts on mines.
but this is weird check out the toyota parts website they also say 3 belts!
The only way to find out is if some one out there has a fx16 with the original engine can tell me about theirs. But for now, the records show that the fx16 should have 3 belts. So it seems like I either have a MR2 or Corolla GT-S engine in there. I got car the car from my dad who died a couple of years ago and I saw a reciept of an egine replacement and radiator but the reciept didn't show what car, make, license plate (damn!) was it for. He had a honda CRX and sold it, then got the fx16, so don't know which car was it for.
well that's my story and i'm looking into performance mods. if any one can tell my about any good ignitions i'd like to hear.
My mods so far:
Magnaflow exhaust
K&N air filter OEM replacement
Air Silencer Removal; Replaced w/hose to fender for cold ram air.
Magnecor 8.5mm ignition wires
Accel Super Stock coil which I want 2 replace w/a MSD coil
CarSound Hi-flow Catalytic Converter
Adjustable quickflasher
any pics?? I saw a white one on the 401 about a week ago.. FX16 GTS, a little rust, and some older lady driving it.. very rare cars up here in Canada.. I don't think they were sold here, so it must be someone who moved up here or brought the car up here from the US.
yes, very few pics, and some are undeveloped, just took some today. lucky my friend got their new scanner but isn't set up yet. So i hope to scan them and post some up, but how do you post them up?
as for other fx16's, most are faded paint & look ugly, driven by old people, but mines opposite, but i'll let you be the judge whenever i can post them.
i have before & after pics too.
Well my exterior mods:
custom made clear turn signal
rear turnsignals painted transparent candy apple red
Painted window moldings, door handle, windshield wipers front & back
Shaved emblems
mostly OEM original silver color paint, except where noted
Painted headlights and corner lights transparent blue, but very very light
i don't want any tickets!
Custom made vynal windshield visor, but not full cauze i want to see the traffic lights.
maybe its a mistake in their books, because I've never seen a 4A-GE with 3 belts, unless you count the timingbelt. the FX16 engine is the same as in the GTi Corolla.
