Here is my story: I got in my 97 Corolla this afternoon to go return a DVD to the video store. As I go to leave, I smell gas. So I look on the driveway after I move the car, and see a puddle. It was gas. So I put the car on ramps in my garage and find a leak in the fuel line. No big deal, just call my mechanic, take it in on Monday and its all good right? So As I go to put it outside again, I think to myself, "This would be a good oppurtunity to work on the headlight alignment. It is a bit off and is driving me crazy." So I got to back it off the ramps, and here's where I ran into a problem (literally). I usually bring it all the way in, but the floor at the front of the garage was wet, and I didn't want to get wet, so I only brought it partway in. So when I went to back off the ramps and left the drivers door open, it met the wall of my garage and got pulled to almost 90 degrees open. I broke the little plastic piece, and bent the hinges. Please don't flame me too bad. I need to know how to get the door card off though, to replace the small plastic thing. I think I will just get new stuff from the wreckers. I figure buying it from Toyota would be $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. So if anyone knows how to get the door card off I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

WOW I was sure my parents were going to kill me, since its technically their car. But they were just like, well, don't beat yourself up, it was just a mistake, you were doing a good thing trying to find the gas leak... And even my dad was alright with it. Luckily I work at a body shop and my family is close with the owners of the shop, so I am going up there today. I worked on adjusting the door, like lining it up, and it opens and closes better now, but its still not right.

Yeah, theres a small puddle there now, but imagine what happens when the intank pump puts 3-4bars of pressure on it, if its a ruptured fuel line its gonna shoot out like a shower.
Dont drive it, unless to the shop to get it fixed, the door can wait after the gas hose is fixed.

it will be a leaking return line, the car wouldn't run if it was the main line. So its under very little pressure, as long as it can't leak on to the exhaust it shouldn't cause huge problems still a bit dodgey though.
EFi. Main fuelpipe cracked like 30cm from the pump, biggest danger was it was shooting fuel at the right rear brake hahah. Imagine a hot brake and a fine mist of gasoline cooling it.
I put the door on and did a bit of alignment work on it, and it made a huge difference. Taking it to the mechanics tomorrow. The weird thing is that it only leaked out like that once.

Wow I must be blind to have missed the leak in the gas tank. It was on the little piece where the fuel line connects to. Door is fixed and new tank is going in tomorrow morning!
