Do the rear wheel studs just hammer out?

I have a 98 Corolla. I broke a rear wheel stud. Do the rear wheel studs just hammer out the back? It looks like they do but I want to be sure before I start hitting hit. Thanks

yes. hit it from the front and it'll come out the back. you might want to put something behind the hub tho so that the bearings dont take a huge hit

i agree dont just put a punch on it on the car take the hub off and use a vise put the broken lug between the jaws loosely and support the hub on either side that way you wont warp the hub!

Might be difficult to hit them with a hammer, a shop press might be a better option.

I've found that an air chisel knocks a stud out in a few seconds. Has anyone tried the job with one of those electric "hammer drills" set on hammer only? If you use an air chisel, use the pointed bit and use an old rim or rotor to shield the hub.
