gas gauge

ok i have a 97 rolla and the gas gauge is always incorrect, it gets it in the ballpark but it flutuates. like i be driving and it will show half a tank and it will go up to 3/4 tank in like 30 minutes, HOW CAN I GAIN GAS?? lol

how can i fix this?

AAAAAA i have the same car and the same problem. i can drive for seriously like 90 miles and the gas gauge will be above full, then after that you dont know how much gas you have.

more then likely your fuel sending unit is faulty. replace it and you should be good to go.

is this on a flat surface not acclerating and breaking hard. I know in my ae92 the gauge is all over the place when I am driving. Or even if I park on a slight incline

hell even my low fuel light lights up around a quater tank, but if I floor it around half a tank REALLY hard then the light will come on and the gauge will read less then a quarter tank. Haven't run out of fuel yet. IT's just because the fuel sending unit in my tank is RIGHT in the front... would have put it more in the back if I had designed the tank but w/e lol
