thats not completely true. I was saying maybe the previous owner ran it in the car while the owned it. There is NOTICABLE strong vibration with regular. The engine will get used to running at a certain temp, blah blah blah, so if the engine has had it for x ammount of years before I got it, shoving regular into it would show a change. Like I don't get any extra power or anything from it. Just the vibration goes away. thats good enough for me!
and man thats not true. Depending on what you do mod wise will depend if you need the extra octane. Advancing your timing can can make it so you have to run it. The 4af engine isn't a bad engine. it's just the weaker brother of a 4age. I have drivin a newer civic, and I would still take a rolla with a 4af over it!
I am assuming the 4af engine's don't make very good N/A engines to tune. Like I know they are good to turbo... but I really want to stay away from turbo's! Don't get me wrong, they are great. But I don't want to deal with turbo lag
hey freakinbox, dude im not like trying to bash you or anything, but i seriously doubt that running regular instead of premium gas would make any kind of vibration in your engine (caused by the gas). true the higher octane gas would make your engine run hotter, but i think there's something wrong with your engine if its noticably vibrating like that. i dunno man, i may be wrong, but in that case, theres something wrong with your car too.
No SR5* needs premium. You won't notice any difference...
*stock... or even lightly modded. Or moderately modded.
my sr5 needs premium.... and i wouldn't say it's anything more than moderately modded
in any case..... no, an engine won't get 'used' to premium gasoline.
in fact, you should run the lowest octane gas that you can without getting detonation.
oh, and for 4afe performance..... with my sr5 with the old stock 4afe and stock c50..... i had the interior stripped (no pass seat, no rear seats at all, all stereo stuff gone except HU and front speakers, no jack/spare/tools) i ran very very very consistent 17.33+ 1/4 mile. I wouldn't say that's all that impressive, sorry!
