Does anyone kow the differences (if any) from year to year on the 4A-F heads? I bascially wanted to know if any one year head flowed better than others or maybe there was a year with a set of cams that was a little more aggressive then other years? I don't know how often it happens with Toyota, but I know of a few mtors that it happens with in the Nissan camp. I figure if there are better years than others then there might be a cheap and quick upgrade!! Any info would be great!!

This may be a dumb question, but I thought there were some difference between the 4A-F and the 4A-FE heads that keep them from being interchangable. Is this true? Let me know about those cam specs!! Thanks alot for the input!!

I knew the whole manifold is different I just wanted to now what stopped it from bolting on. i.e. different hole pattern, to tall or short and things like that!

Yeah the 89 was the last year of the carb thats why you would have to swap intake manifolds so the carb set up would work. I am going to going to the junkyard soon to get 4a-fe head to see what changes need to be made to make the setup work. I am also looking for the shop manuals of all the years of the 4a-f(e) to see if there could possible be a cam swap in there somewhere as well!! I am having a hard time locating all of the manuals so, it would be great if everyone that has a manual could let me know the specs on the cams so I could compile a list and see what years are better than others!! I was also thinking maybe the 7a-fe cams might be a possiblilty!!
