drive belt help

ok i hear a squeling type noise coming from the passenger side of the car, so im assuming its a belt. i have the haynes repair manual for my car which is a 97 Toyota Corolla and it says it doesnt have a auto adjusting tensioner bolt. it also says there are like 3 different belts. do i still need to remove the tire and remove the splash guard to access these belts on the passenger side?

No you don't have to. Just maybe take out the washer bottle out for more room to work around.

if the water pump to steering pump is loose you might need to flex or remove the slash shield to get to the lower pivot bolt..

^^ you don't have to touch the lower pivot bolt on the p/s. Just loosen the adj. bolt (14mm) up top and yank the belt upwards. Give it a good pull and it will move the p/s pump so you can take the belt out.
Then put the new belt on and get a long pry bar ( 3ft bar/pipe if you don't have one) and pry againts the waterpump to take slack off the belt. Tighten the 14mm bolt while prying.

Firewall is what seperates you from the engine compartment.
